About Konrads Kitchen

Konrad is 12 years old and lives in Denmark. He loves food and loves to cook!

Konrad has Type 1 Diabetes and eats LCHF aka a ketogenic diet. That means his body is in a constant state of ketosis (ketones) to keep his blood sugar stable.

High blood sugar + ketones = not good. For a Type 1 diabetic it can quickly lead to the life threatening state of ketoacidosis.

Normal blood sugar + ketones = happy Konrad!

Konrads life is dependant on insulin which he gets from his insulin pump. He also has a continous glucose monitor – CGM (his sensor) to help keep his blood sugar at normal levels. Konrad counts his carbs and takes insulin (bolus) for the carbs which is why it is important to count carbs.

MOM 2016

Normalt blodsukker + ketoner = glad Konrad
